Summer is on the way, and Gold Coasters are reminded to slip, slop, slap – but spare a thought for this “ugly” breed of cat that also needs to cover up.
Clare Spencer’s five-year-old sphinx Austin gets sunburnt as easily as the rest of us – he even gets tan lines.
“He’s a hairless cat meaning he’s basically naked so he loves the sun,” she said.
“I used to take him outside all the time but he ends up sunburnt quite easily. He gets sick, then he peels and sometimes even gets tan lines.”
Ms Spencer said her hairless pal had to wear light T-shirts during summer to protect his skin.
