While most cats hate the sight of water, a trip to the beach leaves Boomer feline fine.
The two-year-old tabby can be regularly spotted in the surf at Snapper Rocks, on the Gold Coast, riding a skim board or bodyboard towed by his owner Robert Dollwet.
Boomer is not too keen on wipe-outs, but that has only given him extra motivation to become quite skilful at shredding the waves.
“He just loves riding the board,” Mr Dollwet said. “He doesn’t actually get in the water, he just stays on the board.
“If we see kids dragging their boards along the sand behind them, Boomer will run over and jump on.” Boomer is also quite adept on a skateboard and, along with his mate Didga, has amassed a social media following of more than 1.5 million through Mr Dollwet’s Catmantoo profile pages.
“I was a professional dog trainer for 35 years,” Mr Dollwet said.
“But I’m a cat man too.”
