A family has revealed their shock after a runaway car plunged into a backyard pool on the Gold Coast yesterday.
A parked car in the suburb of Arundel rolled down the steep driveway at 6.45am and made a splash into Jimmy Sammut’s family pool.
The 43-year-old said he rushed outside with his family to find his neighbours surrounding his pool.
“It is a very quiet street so we were in total shock,” the father-of-two said.
“The kids were upstairs getting ready for school and my wife was downstairs when we heard this huge bang.
“We thought the sound was something breaking in the house but then my wife started yelling that there was a car in the pool.”
Mr Sammut and his family moved into the house three weeks ago and said they were devastated to find the neighbour’s car in the pool.
