Charlie the camel gets the hump if he doesn’t get his coffee with two lumps.
The otherwise affectionate three-year-old has become a celebrity in the tiny outback Queensland town of Boulia, due to his odd choice of beverage.
Too young to be part of the camel races being held in the town last month, Charlie has watched the action from the stable yards, keeping an eye on the track and another on anyone approaching with a cup of coffee.
Charlie’s “mum”, Dannileah Stewart, said his fondness for coffee was discovered by accident.
“He would have only been about a month old when he first got a hold of someone’s coffee,” Ms Stewart said.
“We have to keep an eye on him to make sure he doesn’t get hyped up from too much caffeine.”
