Limited-edition gilt Adelaide boots are walking out the door of the historic South Australian brand's online store.
Made in the company’s Salisbury factory, the first run sold out in days – despite the $545 price tag. The demand for the style is so great that they are now available made-to-order from rmwilliams.com.au.
While delivery will take up to two months, dedicated followers of fashion are prepared to wait to get their kicks, with orders flooding in.
Once the “gilty” pleasure of Burnside ladies, often lampooned for their love of gold shoes in the 1980s and ’90s, metallic footwear is now on-trend with women of all ages.
Illustrating the gold Adelaide boot’s mass appeal, a Facebook post showcasing the style has attracted close to 3000 comments.
It is not the first time R.M. Williams has made metallic boots.
Named to pay homage to R.M. Williams’ SA heritage, the Adelaide boot has previously been available in stylish pewter.
While the Australian brand was bought by French luxury goods icon LVMH in 2014, its boots are still made at the Salisbury R.M. Williams factory.
