For most people, high speeds and crashes at Mt Panorama are usually associated with the prestigious Bathurst 1000 Supercars race each October.
But for this bunch of Queenslanders, that opportunity will come in less than a fortnight – and in a breathtaking, first-hand look at the iconic circuit.
Jeremy Rodgers is the veteran among the group who will head to the NSW country town for the Downhill Skateboard World Cup from February 17 to 19, competing against international athletes from countries including Brazil.
Rodgers and his fellow skaters will take on a tricky 1.3km stretch down the twisting mountain reaching speeds of 100km/h by the bottom of the Conrod Straight downslope.
