Zelda looks constantly unhappy, dresses as a banana sometimes and absolutely hates waking up before 8am – but she could be the next big thing in small dogs.
The two-year-old griffon-pekingese cross is now fully grown at 4kg and is a cross ­between two rare breeds.
“When we first saw her she was about the size of a tub of butter and we had to have her,” said Zelda’s owner ­William Conway.
She is one of a litter of three pups, who each have a moustached appearance and an overbite, which makes them look perpetually, yet comically, grouchy. Mr Conway said Zelda, named after the video game, is only active for an hour each day, which was just how he and his partner Krystal like it.
“She is super lazy, if she has to wake up before 8am she just gives us the look,” Mr Conway said.
Mr Conway said the couple was looking for a pug until they came across the griffon breed, which is said to have inspired Star Wars creator George Lucas to imagine Ewoks.
