When Tahlia Giumelli takes on rival beauty queens in the Miss Universe Australia finale later this month, she’ll have a very special supporter cheering her on — her partner and South Sydney Rabbitoh Tom Burgess.
“Tom’s flying down, and so is my mum. It’s really nice, because he has a game on the Sunday — he’s my biggest supporter, it’s great,” the 24-year-old gushed.
In the run up to June 29 ceremony, Ms Giumelli has been focusing on the physical side of the pageant.
“It’s a lot of working out and eating well, as well as doing things like getting your hair ready and doing spray tans. There’s a Q&A too, so it’s just keeping up to date with what’s happening in Australia and worldwide as well,” she said.
The model is using her bid for the crown that lifted Jennifer Hawkins to a household name to promote a cause close to her heart.
“I suffer from Crohn’s disease, and I’m the ambassador of Crohn’s and Colitis Australia. A big part of that is building awareness.
“I think we need more funding and education, it’s a growing disease,” she added.
