Rival club fanatics will finally have a captive audience with Jeff “Joffa’’ Corfe tonight when the Collingwood cheer squad leader puts himself behind bars for Whitelion’s Bail Out.
Joffa will be joined by Treasurer Tim Pallas, AFL legend Brent Harvey, the Melbourne Boomers and hundreds of others at Old Melbourne Gaol for the annual charity that raises funds and awareness for disadvantaged youth.
Whitelion chief executive Mark Watt said business and community leaders would experience what it’s like to be locked up while members of the public bid to bail them out and raise funds for mentoring, employment and youth services.
“They’ll be fingerprinted, go through the courts, wear the uniforms and be put into old prison cells to get a sense of what it is like to lose their privileges,” Mr Watt said.
The aim is to raise $200,000.
