When it comes to feline fashion, these fake nails really are the cat’s pyjamas.
A Cheltenham groomer is applying silicone nails to cats, and owners from across Victoria are lapping it up.
Designed to stop kitty destroying the furniture — and your visitors’ legs — they come in 40 stylish colours and will give you six to eight weeks of scratch-free peace.
The silicone nail caps are $35 per set (all four paws) or $25 if you add them onto a grooming session.
Scratch & Sniffs Pet Grooming owner Cally Loridas said the imported nails were becoming very popular.
“They are just like an acrylic sheath that slides over the cat’s own nails, they don’t impede it at all,” she said. “I have them on my own cat.”
A qualified veterinarian of 17 years, and one of only a handful of feline master groomers in Australia, Ms Loridas said her clients travelled from all over Victoria to ensure their cat got the first-class treatment.
“We don’t use any sort of sedation, so it’s a gentle, quiet, calm environment for them,” she said.
