Erin Mortimer Swims With 'Crikey' The Crocodile

Crickey the Christmas croc could be all yours — but potential buyers better be snappy.
The five-year-old salty is up for sale and Erin, 9, reckons he’d make the perfect pet this festive season. He loves prawns, raw chicken and trout — but could be increasingly partial to a stray finger.
“We feed him with tongs, never by hand,’’ mum Kim Mortimer said.
For years her fearless daughter and two other kids have wrangled the reptile from their suburban backyard, having grown up with a menagerie of other creepy crawlies.
A demonstrator for Roaming Reptiles, a touring classroom that provides displays, interaction and education, Ms Mortimer said Aussie kids needed to be more hands-on.
“I think it’s important to teach kids that not everything is dangerous and to get out into nature,’’ she said.
The family now hope to find Crikey a new home with a little more room to move.
