Toddler Abby Parrott joined the thousands heading to swimming holes and beaches yesterday with the 18-month-old heading to Birubi Beach near Port Stephens with mum Emily as temperatures climbed into the high 30s near Newcastle.
Apart from a quick dip it also gave Abby a chance to help grandad Rod Sansom with his camel ride business. “She had a little splash and then came to say hello, she loves the camels,” he said.
Despite today’s brief relief, things are likely to worsen tomorrow as winds up the coast turn northerly and bring the hot air back.
