She flies through the air with the greatest of ease — before plunging to the ground at the highest of speeds.
Rhiannan Iffland, the Red Bull Cliff Diving world champion, is part of a team of daredevils providing awe-struck crowds at Luna Park with a few thrills and spills this month.
The divers clamber up a 25m ladder before hurling themselves towards a tank of water just 2.9m deep — performing acrobatics and comical routines all the way down.
Diving from more than twice the height of a standard 10m Olympic diving board increases the speed of the dive by six times, and the athletes hit the water with an impact of 3g-4g — around the same force F1 drivers cope with.
