It's not everyday when a lion can be gently kissed on the nose. For staff at Mogo Wildlife Park, the unique moment came on Thursday morning when Snow — a 16-year-old white lioness — became the first patient at the zoo’s new veterinary hospital. “When she’s fast asleep, I can cuddle her and be as brave as I want,” carnivore zookeeper Fran Campbell said, after giving the “brilliant cat” a smooch. One of the first white lions in Australia, Snow — the matriarch of the zoo and a fixture since 2004 — was anaesthetised to have a contraceptive implant to stop the nine-time mum from having more cubs.
