If Shane Newitt’s pumpkin weighs in at half a tonne at this weekend’s Bream Creek Show he’ll have grown the heaviest in Australia three years in a row.
For five out of the six years Mr Newitt has been entering his pumpkin in the heaviest pumpkin competition at the show, he has won, and this year he aims to beat his current personal best of 455.5kg.
“I’ve grown the heaviest in Tasmania five years out of six, and if I beat 499kg this year I’ve grown the heaviest in Australia three years in a row,” Mr Newitt said.
