Surgeons will attempt to separate conjoined Bhutanese twins Nima and Dawa Pelden on Friday, confident the sisters will overcome poor health in time for the complex operation.
A team of more than 30 Royal Children’s Hospital specialists are preparing to play their role in the landmark procedure, including up to 20 who will be present together in the operating theatre as the sisters are finally separated.
The specialists will then split into two surgical teams, in two different operating theatres, to reconstruct the individual girls’ separated bodies.
