Two Queensland kids with a creative idea to help the elderly during COVID-19 are among those to win a national virtual challenge for children to solve problems faced by Australians during the coronavirus pandemic. The Gold Coast's Cienna and Tayt Langford came up with an app dubbed "Helper Host" to fix the technology gap faced by the isolated elderly population after national social enterprise Young Change Agents launched the challenge for young people aged 10-21 in March. Their idea was to provide technical support to help elderly Queenslanders use digital devices to connect with loved ones during the COVID-19 lockdown. It would also provide access to online exercise, games and activities, ebooks, links to mental health support and grocery and medication delivery services.
