Plenty of people have had a Surfers Paradise smooch they would rather forget, but mistletoe under the famous sign is making lip-locking sweeter than mum’s Christmas Day pavlova.
Considering Surfers Paradise is the third most Instagrammed location in Australia, the Gold Coast City Council has hung mistletoe under the famous sign that is sure to jingle a few bells and rake in the ‘likes’.
Cr Gary Baildon said the mistletoe was intended to bring a little romance to the party precinct during the festive season.
“We’re encouraging people to come along and, if they’ve got someone they’re very fond of, we invite them to stand under the mistletoe and exchange pleasantries and then you never know what might happen,” he said.
“What a fun and relaxed way to promote our city’s iconic beach, and that world-famous sign, with a little mistletoe.
“Every kiss is another advert for the Gold Coast.’’
