Melburnians are famous for their simple and classic style — now it seems their pet dogs may be even trendier.
Jemma Thomas is the owner and designer of COAT, a small Melbourne-based start-up that sells “classic and sophisticated” outerwear for whippets and greyhounds.
The online store sells coats and “snoods” — a combination scarf and hood, tailored to the slender body of sighthounds.
Ms Thomas launched the business after she could not find winter warmers that suited her whippet Stevie.
“The response has been mind-blowing. It’s heartwarming to think how an idea that stemmed from caring for my dog has become important for other people as well,” Ms Thomas said.
